Leadership positions within Stratford House are elected per semester, and are a wonderful way to show love to our other sisters in Christ through service.

The president shall preside at all house meetings and house members’ meetings. She shall be responsible for house representation concerning the house as a whole. She shall have the power to call meetings and shall appoint committees when necessary. She shall serve as a representative to the BHM, or she may appoint a representative. She and the vice-president shall determine room assignments for the following semester, and she shall have one hour of duties if needed.
The vice-president shall take over the duties as president when the president is temporarily absent. She is responsible for initiate activities (when there is no initiate director) and shall be chair of the interview committee. When there is an initiate director, the vice president will hand over initiate responsibilities but will still oversee the activities. She and the president shall determine room assignments for the following semester, and she shall have one hour of duties if needed.
The secretary shall keep a record of all house meetings, including house members’ meetings. She shall also take attendance at all house meetings. She shall serve as the key chairman and shall be responsible for forwarding mail and keeping alumni files up to date. She shall write thank you notes for gifts to the house. She is responsible for updating the email list-serve.
The treasurer shall be responsible for the collection and disbursement of monies, and the maintenance of records as required by standard accounting practice and the BHM. The responsibilities of the treasurer are as follows: provide accurate accounting for receipts and expenditures, maintain timely and accurate records, and submit proposed budgets to the BHM for approval. Accurate records include: receiptsfrom all expenditures, bills and proof of payment, house bills, and documentations of use of budget. The treasurer will also inform the executive committee of any accounts receivable that are over thirty days past due. She shall be exempt from house and meal duties. She shall also be exempt from duties during Work Week. Because of the complexity of the treasurer’s job, it is required that she serves a full year, from fall to spring semester and be available during the summer months for consultation.
The house manager shall be responsible for the cleaning and care of the house and yard and shall have all power to purchase necessary supplies. She shall assign permanent house duties, meal preps, and meal clean-ups according to each person’s class schedule. She shall set the standard for and inspect all house duties and shall have the power to assign extra work duties to people who neglect their house duties. She shall be exempt from house and meal duties. The house manager is also responsible for maintaining the wireless router.
The co-commissars shall be responsible for purchasing all food supplies for the house. They shall be responsible for planning menus. The co-commissars shall be exempt from house and meal duties. It is suggested that a commissar run for office a second semester so that there is one experienced commissar and one new one each semester.
Junior House Manager
The junior house manager shall be in responsible for assisting the house manager as needed. She shall be exempt from one hour of house/meal duties and shall have three hours if needed.
The co-chaplains will serve the house as devotional chairs and will direct any religious programs.
The co-social chairs shall direct all social functions. It is suggested that they keep a record of all social events and ideas for future events.
Public Relations Chair
The public relations chair shall serve as alum chair for the house. She shall be responsible for submitting house news to newspapers. In general, she shall direct all matters pertaining to house publicity like Mom’s Day, Dad’s Day, and Quad Day. She is responsible for updating the Stratford House website. She is the keeper of the external hard drive and requests other house officers to use it to back up documents pertaining to their respective house positions.
The sports chair shall direct all house sports. She shall be responsible for ensuring that house sports equipment is in good repair, ordering Stratford attire, and ordering Illini sports tickets. She is responsible for signing up the house for intramural sports.
The house photographer shall take pictures, create a house scrapbook following each semester, update the dining room picture frame, update picture frames throughout the house, and place old picture in the designated photo box. She shall also maintain the photo box making it available on homecoming weekend allowing Stratford alumni to take the old pictures.
The academic chair will be responsible for implementing the academic policy. She is responsible for enforcing study hours and developing a program that works to promote the scholastic well-being of Stratford residents.
The initiate director will be responsible for all initiate events. She will serve only in the fall unless otherwise decided by the Executive Council. She is responsible for events during initiate week and making sure that initiate interviews and letters are completed on time. She will report to the Executive Council on all initiate matters as needed. She shall be exempt from house and meal duties but shall have 1 hour of duties if needed.
