Established 1949Stratford Christian Cooperative House is a privately certified house at the University of Illinois. Parkland College students and other enrolled degree program students are welcome.
Because of the reciprocal housing agreement with the University, most U of I students are able to switch over to Stratford mid-year without penalty, if done by mid-November. So what exactly is "cooperative living"? As a cooperative house, each resident has certain responsibilities to keep the house a comfortable and enjoyable place to live. We cook our own meals every day except dinners on Saturday & Sunday. Each resident will serve the house 3-5 hours a week with cooking and cleaning, in times that work with each individual resident's class schedule. Because the housework is evenly shared between all residents, the price of living at Stratford House is roughly two-thirds of the cost of the University residence halls. Stratford Activities!
